Welcome word of the Mayor

The city of Metz welcomes from the 14th to the 19th February 2016 one of the thirty stops of the table tennis PREMIUM world junior circuit. This event is organized by the TT Metz club, jointly with the Lorraine region and the County of Moselle.

The sporting complex Saint Symphorien will gather, on this occasion, the best young players of the planet. We are proud that our city welcomes during a few days these players, who will compete with a spirit of surpassing themselves and with a good emulation.

And this only one month after the welcome of several matches of the 2017 Men Handball World championships.

Thank You to all the volunteers who will take part in the organization of the competition and good luck to all the table tennis players.

Dominique GROS
The Mayor of Metz
Departmental adviser of the Moselle

The word of the President of the County of Moselle

The Moselle department is without any doubt a winning department as well as a sports land.

Thanks to the “Moselle Sport Academy”, which is a set of accompanying measures for high-level athletes that is unprecedented in France, our Department leads an important performance network. It is based not only on the support of 116 athletes and 40 high-level sport clubs, but also on internationally-known manifestations, such as the World Men's Handball Championship, which took place in Moselle in January 2017.

What is more, our territory also offers to everyone the chance to do a sport activity, therefore encouraging social and personal fulfilment through many actions, such as the Senior Sport Moselle or the Energy Moselle Women.

How not to mention the “Belles Rencontres” project, which was awarded with the “Territoria Or 2015” prize (by the Public Innovation Observatory) and which allows young people in difficulty to meet and share their experience with high-level athletes from Moselle. Today, many champions have decided to sponsor social establishments for children. In 2016, 16 establishments are sponsored by our champions.

As the first partner of sports in Moselle, the Department encourages the development of tennis table and this year again, it will support the organisers and volunteers of Metz Table Tennis as well as the Tennis Table Department Committee of the Grand Est League who organise the 7th edition of the Premium World Circuit.

Passion, determination and innovation: thanks to the clubs, the players and the officials, our Department is moving forward and is getting stronger in order to “succeed together”.

Good luck to all the participants and Welcome to Moselle.

Patrick WEITEN
President of the County Council of Moselle

A word from the president of Grand Est region

By supporting the organisation of sport events and competitions, the Regional Council contributes both to the development of sport activities and to the animation of territories.

For the 7th year in a row, the best worldwide table tennis players will be staying in Metz for a week to show their talent on the Premium World Circuit.

This event being organised in Metz is a stroke of luck for our region. Thanks to the Premium label, the competition ranks among the ten most prestigious and high-level tennis table competitions worldwide this year. This is both an official acknowledgement of the organisation staff’s know-how and a quality proof for the participants who come from all over the world.

I would like to thank each and every one of the organisers and volunteers for the hard work carried out to make this event possible.

Finally, I wish all the French players to keep getting results as good as the ones they have been getting in the last few years.

Good luck to everyone for this 7th edition.

Philippe RICHERT
President of the Regional Council of Grand Est

A word from the President of the French Association

The Junior and Cadet Open has definitely become a traditional event on the World Junior Circuit ITTF’s schedule. Once more, we are delighted to gather for this new edition.

The event’s growing notoriety is mainly due to the joint efforts of Metz club, the Moselle Committee and the Lorraine League who have been ensuring its successful organisation for 7 years now.

A true synergy, led by an experienced organisation committee whose member epitomise our French know-how.

I would like to send my regards to this organisation committee composed of volunteers and professionals for their outstanding work. I also want to thank private and institutional partners for their support.

The young French generation will do their best to perpetuate this victorious tradition in Metz, in a context where competition is stronger every year. In their excellence search, these future champions are longing to take their place on the podium, next to the best table tennis players.

May this competition bring you challenge and intensity.

I wish a good competition to everyone.

A word from the presidents of the organizing committee

Welcome to Metz for this new edition of the France junior and cadet Open! We are delighted to welcome you for the 7th edition organised in the complex Saint Symphorien, which most of you are starting to know very well. Once more, the local club, the county committee of Moselle and the TT Lorraine region – which is now the TT Grand Est region – have joined their forces to propose you 5 high-level competition days.

We are particularly proud that the International and the French Table Tennis associations have renewed their trust for this stature organisation, especially as we will be in charge of its organisation for four more years, therefore allowing us to celebrate the 10th edition in 2020!

This is a great reward for all the organisation staff who are fully dedicated to comply with the particularly demanding specifications related to a premium event.
Besides the great deal of work it involves, keeping this label is a priority for us. Indeed,
Thanks to this label, the players earn points in the race to the World Junior Championships, which promises us a very high level of competition every year.

For the 2017 edition, a team of numerous and experienced volunteers have helped us to manage more than 220 players coming from nearly 30 countries, one hundred coaches and official referees. We want to thank them warmly for all the work carried out during these five days. Indeed, each volunteer is a key stakeholder in this organisation.

A big thank you also to our partners, institutional and private, who are always present beside us. Without them we could simply not organise such events.

To finish with, we wish you excellent sporting results and also a good stay in Lorraine, in Moselle and in Metz.

Good competition to all of you.
